Please check back for additional details and registration.
2025 IA&B Young Agent Conference Recap
Over 120 young insurance professionals gathered at Bear Creek Mountain Resort in Macungie, PA on Oct. 15-16, 2025 for the IA&B Young Agent Conference. Highlights included sessions on cybersecurity in the age of AI, time management tips, and leveraging a virtual assistant. The event also included a panel discussion on intergenerational change, roundtable discussions among young and seasoned agents, and the announcement of the 2025 Young Agent Award winners.

The Young Agent Conference is returning this fall to Gettysburg, PA.
This is the only conference designed for young insurance professionals in PA, MD, and DE. It brings together an energetic, driven group of young agents who are actively seeking to develop their skills and careers. Young insurance professionals can connect with peers and mentors and find an agenda full of epic seminars, hands-on workshops, and knowledgeable, engaging speakers.
Typically, our young agents are under the age of 39 years old; however, if you see something valuable on the agenda, don’t let age be a factor in attending.

10:15 AM – Keynote: Be the Torch, Presented by Brandon Smith
Every leader hits moments of uncertainty…dark stretches where the path isn’t clear, the pressure builds, and it would be easier to wait than to lead. That’s where leadership shows up.
This keynote challenges attendees to stop waiting for directions and start becoming it. Through real stories, relatable moments, and a little humor, Brandon creates an experience that’s engaging, personal, and easy to connect with. No fluff. Just a clear message and practical takeaways that land. He unpacks what it means to “Be the Torch” … to step into the unknown, move first, and light the way for others even when you don’t have all the answers.
At the core is a simple, practical framework built around three steps to be the torch: first, you must be willing to fail and learn from your mistakes. Second, you must refuse to let failure define or control you. And third, you get to choose…either breakdown or breakthrough. The message is clear: leadership isn’t about having it all figured out. It’s about going first.
Attendees will leave motivated, grounded, and equipped with a clear path to step forward, take ownership, and light the way for their team…especially when it matters most.
11:00 AM – IA&B Young Agent Award Recognition & Panel
Celebrate emerging talent at our Young Agent Award Announcement and Panel. We will recognize this year’s outstanding young agents, followed by engaging discussion on career growth, innovation, and leadership.
12:00 PM – Lunch
1:00 PM – Leadership Without the Title: Using DISC* to Positively Influence Clients and Teams, Presented by Claudia St. John
This session is geared to every position in the agency.
Regardless of your job title, leadership is the everyday choice to positively influence people and results in understanding your own style and intentionally adapting your behavior when working with others. In this interactive session, you will learn how to use your natural DISC behavioral style to communicate more effectively with clients and colleagues by leveraging your strengths, managing your blind spots, and confidently spotting and flexing to the styles of those around you. Building on the DISC training session from 2024, this program will allow participants to dive more deeply into “flexing” and practice how to adjust your behavioral style based on the type of person and situation you are engaging with.
By the end of this session, you’ll be able to:
- See how you can lead from your current role by understanding your natural DISC strengths and potential derailers
- Identify the likely DISC styles in teammates and clients—even without a formal assessment
- Apply practical “flex” moves to improve communication, relationships, and outcomes when working with others
4:00 PM – Power of Presence, Presented by Brandon Smith
Have you ever wondered why some people brag about working 50, 60, or even 75 hours per week, like it’s some badge of honor? What a poor use of time…and life. Brandon has found that the first step toward living the kind of life you’ve always wanted is by being intentional, by creating a schedule/calendar that works. You’ve got to have a plan. Being intentional about how you use your time is the difference between living the life you want and just being stuck. In this wellness session, Brandon will help you prioritize what is important and teach you how to create a schedule where everything fits perfectly into place.
5:00 PM – First Day of Sessions Conclude
5:30 PM – Happy Hour/Networking
6:30 PM – Dinner
7:30 PM – Evening Activities, Networking, and Entertainment
Wednesday, Oct. 14
8:30 AM – Harnessing AI for Growth, Presented by Daniel Metcalf
AI is transforming how independent insurance agents work, helping small teams automate, personalize, and grow faster than ever before. But with every tool you connect, every workflow you automate, and every channel you plug in, you are also connecting your data, your clients, and your business to new risks. Using AI responsible means protecting your information, your resources, and your clients.
Key Topics:
- The state of AI adoption in the independent insurance agencies and why it matters now
- The types of AI available and how each one applies to agency work
- How AI eliminates tasks that waste agents’ time so they can focus on clients
- A 6-step playbook for implementing AI safely and strategically in your work
- The cybersecurity and compliance risks that come with AI adoption and how to manage them.
10:00 AM – Break
10:15 AM – Different, Presented by Brandon Smith
What do youth sports and a local Facebook page have in common? A jaw-dropping 2,100% ROI and $70,000 in first-year revenue … all by doing things differently.
In this fast-paced story-driven session, Brandon pulls back the curtain on real-world strategies that break the mold and work. You’ll walk away with bold, practical ideas to turn everyday relationships into high value business, grow your digital presence in days (not months), and create content that doesn’t just get likes, but drives leads.
If you’re tired of playing safe, it’s time to think Different.
11:30 AM – Lunch & Roundtable Discussions
1:30 PM – E&O Mock Trial
The mock trial is designed to simulate a trial based on real errors that arose under Errors and Omissions liability for insurance agents. The facts presented here are from an actual claim that went to trial and had a verdict rendered. The participants will learn firsthand by observing what transpired and learning about the issues that came to light during litigation and how that affected the eventual outcome. The participants will also participate, some by playing roles in the litigation and the remainder by acting as the jury, providing their own thoughts and observations on the verdict slip. This educational session will end with an overview of Errors and Omissions (E&O) liability including an examination of what the agent could’ve done differently to avoid this lawsuit and common causes of E&O claims against Insurance Agents. Guidance will be given to agents if the agents are faced with an E&O claim or lawsuit.
Learning Objectives: The learning objectives are to give participants an insider’s perspective on courtroom procedures; give participants an exposure to an E&O trial; give participants a better understanding of the legal system; provide a venue to use critical analysis of errors and omissions exposure; to provide a hands-on experience from which participants can learn about the law and to think about how the judicial system resolves disputes of agent liability; employ strategic thinking; develop questioning skills; and develop effective listening skills.
4:30 PM – Conference Wrap Up
A DISC profile is a behavior assessment and measures the dimensions of personality. IT categorizes how people tend to communicate, make decisions, and interact with others. It is a tool that can help improve workplace communication and understanding team dynamics.
It does not measure intelligence, aptitude, mental health, or values.
We will send you a link to a DISC assessment, which asks you to respond to simple statements on a scale from strongly agree to strongly disagree. There are no right or wrong answers and be rest assured that the results are confidential.
The DISC profile tool will be provided to participants to take online about four weeks before the event.
At the conference, each participant will receive a printed copy of their individual profile.
If you attended the 2024 Young Agent Conference and completed the DISC assessment, you do not need to take it again. We have the 2024 results on file and will print them for you to review at this year’s conference.
