Student Information
Welcome
WELCOME to the Insuring Careers Certification Program! We are excited that you chose to begin your career in insurance and look forward to being with you every step of the way! It is essential to read this welcome message carefully, as it contains information on how to successfully approach this program.
There are 5 steps in the Insuring Careers Certification Program. You can expect the online, self-paced modules in Steps 1, 3, and 4 to take about one hour each to complete. Remember, you have up to 6 months to complete all requirements for the program.
Accessing Your Online Learning Portal
To access your online learning portal, you must first log into your IA&B account at www.iabforme.com/login.

Steps To Success
Step 1 – Introduction to Insurance
All four modules must be completed prior to registering for your licensing study course.
Step 2 – Licensure
Although Licensure is a single step in the 5-step program, it will likely take you the longest simply due to the time needed to adequately prepare for the state licensing exam. This is the only part of the process that is instructor facilitated and not on-demand.
Step 2.1 –
Register for your webinar or classroom licensing study course. The cost of the licensing study course is included in your ICCP registration fee. Register for your webinar or classroom licensing study course. The cost of the licensing study course is included in your ICCP registration fee.
When you registered for ICCP, you should have received a coupon code in your confirmation email, as well as a study guide that was mailed to you. Use this coupon code when registering for a licensing study webinar or in-person course. If you can’t find it or need assistance, please call 800-998-9644, option 1 or education@IABforME.com. Our team will be happy to help you. Please note that core operating hours for staff are Mon – Fri, 8:30AM to 4:30PM.
Please schedule your course date so you have at least 4 weeks to complete the pre-study prior to the course date. It is imperative that you give yourself this time to study as the class/webinar is the final step in the exam preparation.

Step 2.2 –
Begin the pre-study. Take the time to review all the introductory material in the licensing manual. The blue and green sections include important information on how to study and about the exam process. Most importantly, there is a recommended study schedule provided. The study schedule breaks the content into manageable pieces to allow you the best opportunity to absorb the information.
Step 2.3 –
Take notes and highlight any areas that are unclear. Make a note of any questions you have. Then, you will know exactly what to ask when you get to class!
Step 2.4 –
We recommend that you take the exam 3-5 days following the three-day course. This allows you time for final studying but not so much time that you begin to forget information. You should have your exam scheduled prior to attending the three-day course so you can get your preferred location, date, and time.
Step 2.5 –
Attend your licensing webinar or classroom course. Full attendance at the three-day program is required to earn your completion certificate. This certificate allows you to sit for the state licensing exam and is a necessity for the Insuring Careers Certification Program.
Step 2.6 –
Take the exam! It’s time – you’ve done the work, and now you will see it all come together!
Step 2.7 –
You’ve passed the exam! Congratulations! If you were unsuccessful in passing your exam, don’t worry. Contact Sue Zvorsky at suez@iabforme.com or 800-998-9644, ext. 206, and she will be happy to assist you.
- Apply for your license.
- Get fingerprinted.
- Log into your learning portal. (See “accessing your learning portal” above. Go to Section 2 and submit your licensing exam results. We will review your results within 24 hours and open your access to Sections 3 & 4.)
Step 3 – Additional Insurance Training
Congratulations! Now that you’ve passed the test, you can relax and start digging deeper into the policies. You can complete the courses in Section 3 in any order. Upon completion of all modules in Step 3, you will be granted access to Step 4 – Business Skills.
Step 4 – Business Skills
You have completed the insurance training portion of the Insuring Careers Certification Program. Now, you can access Step 4 – Business Skills. These modules can be taken in any order. There is a communications homework assignment in Step 4: recording a video introduction of yourself and uploading it. This is required for your completion of the certification program and will be used in your job board posting (for those of you who are not yet employed and who choose to paticipate in the job board).
Step 5 – Final Exam
The intent of this exam is to gauge your knowledge of the policies as well as the business skills needed to be successful in this industry. This test is 100 questions; 70 correct answers are required to pass. Upon successful completion, you will receive an email notifying you that you earned the certification. In addition, you will receive a congratulatory letter and certificate via mail.
