Welcome

WELCOME to the Insuring Careers Certification Program! We are excited that you chose to begin your career in insurance and look forward to being with you every step of the way! It is essential to read this welcome message carefully, as it contains information on how to successfully approach this program.

There are 5 steps in the Insuring Careers Certification Program. You can expect the online, self-paced modules in Steps 1, 3, and 4 to take about one hour each to complete. Remember, you have up to 6 months to complete all requirements for the program.

Accessing Your Online Learning Portal

To access your online learning portal, you must first log into your IA&B account at www.iabforme.com/login.

Use the login credentials you created when you registered for this program. Once logged in:

Click on My Portal in the top right of the screen.

Navigate to My Account at the bottom of the page.

Click on My Education, Events & Products. You will see the Insuring Careers Certification Program in the My Upcoming Education & Events table.

Click on the Access button in the Event Code column.

Steps To Success

Step 1 – Introduction to Insurance

All four modules must be completed prior to registering for your licensing study course.

Step 2 – Licensure

Although licensure is a single step in the 5-step program, it will likely take you the longest simply due to the time needed to adequately prepare for the state licensing exam. This is the only part of the process that is not an IA&B on-demand module. You will register for your study product with ExamFX.

Step 2.1 – Registering and Completing the Licensing Preparation

The cost of the ExamFX licensing study package is included in your registration fee for the Insuring Careers Certification Program and you should have received a “discount code” in an IA&B email that will allow you to access ExamFX. The Exam FX licensing study content will be available to you for 60 days after accessing it. Plan accordingly and do not register for the licensing package until you are ready to begin studying.

Go to https://checkout.examfx.com/checkout/product
- This will take you to the first step – Product Details
- Enter the Discount Code in the appropriate field. Click Apply.
- You may enter your manager’s email address in the next field; however, this is not required.
- Click on “Next Step”
- Click on the down arrow next to “Select an Available Product” and choose “Insurance Prelicensing” and the state for licensure (MD).
Select Training – Choose Property & Casualty. Click Next Step.
Select Package – Click on the small addition (+) sign under the package price for “Property & Casualty – Live Online Study Package.” Click Next Step.
Your order summary will appear and will show a $0 balance. Click Continue (Do NOT click “Select Add-ons”).
Click on “Create an Account” for ExamFX. Complete your account information and accept the terms and conditions.
Click Continue on the Checkout screen.
You may now launch the online course and register for the live online training. The online training is not required but included as an added benefit for you. You can use the study manual that was shipped to you for note taking and reference.

Step 2.2 – Take the Exam

It’s time – you’ve done the work, and now you will see it all come together. Refer to licensing bulletin included in your welcome packet for detailed instructions for registering for your state exam.

Step 2.3 – You’ve Passed the Exam! Apply for your License.

Congratulations! Go to https://www.prometric.com/exams.mia If you were unsuccessful in passing your exam, don’t worry. Contact Sue Zvorsky at suez@iabforme.com or 800-998-9644, ext. 206, and she will be happy to assist you. Return to your Insuring Careers learning portal (see “accessing your learning portal” on the previous page). Go to Section 2 and submit your licensing exam results. You will now have access to Section 3 of the certificate program.

Step 3 – Additional Insurance Training

Congratulations! Now that you’ve passed the test, you can relax and start digging deeper into the policies. You can complete the courses in Section 3 in any order. Upon completion of all modules in Step 3, you will be granted access to Step 4 – Business Skills.

Step 4 – Business Skills

You have completed the insurance training portion of the Insuring Careers Certification Program. Now, you can access Step 4 – Business Skills. These modules can be taken in any order.

Step 5 – Final Exam

The intent of this exam is to gauge your knowledge of the policies as well as the business skills needed to be successful in this industry. This test is 100 questions; 70 correct answers are required to pass. Upon successful completion, you will receive an email notifying you that you earned the certification. In addition, you will receive a congratulatory letter and certificate via mail.
