Good & Nasty Stuff
Endorsements You Want/Don't Want on Your Policy
One of the most important functions a producer or service person needs to perform today is identifying and understanding both the good and nasty endorsements added to your client's personal and commercial policies.
In today's price sensitive market and litigious society, carriers are using ISO and proprietary endorsements to carve out integral parts of your client's PL and CL polies, often leaving them with no or little coverage for exposures normally covered. Over the years, I have collected a large number of "nasty" endorsements which will be discussed to help you understand why your client would not want them on their personal or commercial policy(ies) if they have a choice.
Additionally, most policy forms as written, need broadened in a variety of ways: increasing sub-limits, broadening restrictive coverage, providing coverage where no coverage is given, and adding essential endorsements to help keep you out of court!
