IA&B meets with Commissioner Navarro, state senators
Insurance Commissioner Trinidad Navarro last week met with our IA&B Advocacy team. The meet-and-greet allowed us to find common ground with Commissioner Navarro based on our mutual concern for consumer protection in the insurance transaction. We were able to learn about his priorities, share our own, and lay the groundwork for a positive working relationship moving forward.
Two Department of Insurance staffers joined us for the meeting: Vincent Ryan, who serves as a senior advisor to the commissioner, and a familiar face, Gene Reed, who came out of retirement to fill in temporarily after the departure of Deputy Insurance Commissioner Mitch Crane.
Our team also called a meeting of the Delaware Association of IA&B Government Relations Committee at the office of our new Dover-based lobbyist, Scott Kidner, of C.S. Kidner Associates. We discussed the current legislative session and future issues, including our support of Senate Bill 161, which establishes a fee schedule for personal injury protection (PIP) coverage.
Committee members then hosted members of the state Senate for our annual luncheon. In attendance were Senate President Pro Tempore David McBride, Majority Leader Margaret Rose Henry, Majority Whip Nicole Poore, Sen. Dave Sokola and Sen. Stephanie Hansen.
