2017 Outstanding CSR of the Year

The annual Outstanding Customer Service Representative (CSR) of the Year Award—sponsored by the National Alliance for Insurance Education & Research—is given to individuals who consistently provide quality service, exhibit strong leadership capabilities and have made valuable contributions to their agencies and communities. This opportunity is a meaningful way to recognize a front-line employee for the significant role she/he plays in your workplace.

Nominees first compete at the state level. State winners are then automatically entered into the national competition. Nomination and awards processes are outlined below.

Award Levels

State Winners receive:

  • Framed Certificate of Achievement

  • State recognition

Four National Finalists will receive:

  • $500 Cash award

  • National recognition

  • Gold and garnet pin

National Award Recipient will receive:

  • $2,000 Cash award

  • Gold and diamond pin

  • Employer receives a scholarship to a National Alliance program

  • Nominator of recipient receives a $1,000 cash award


Open to anyone regardless of affiliation or professional designation. Candidates should be an insurance customer service representative or have primary responsibility for customer service duties.

Competition Materials

Candidates must complete and return the competition entry form, submit two letter(s) of recommendation from a professional reference(s) and write a 1,000-word essay (two pages, double-spaced) on the following topic: A friend who is a CSR has come to you for advice about a new customer service job opportunity in an agency in another city. What five factors about the employer and the position would you advise them to consider before accepting the job? Please discuss the most important factor first.

State Outstanding CSR of the Year Selection

Candidate entries are judged primarily on a written response to the selected theme taking into consideration originality and practicality of ideas along with creativity and quality of writing.

July: Award finalists and national award winner are announced.
