Delaware teens receive scholarships from insurance agents’ association
Jennifer Armistead, of Newark, and Ben Blewitt, of Wilmington, this week each received a $1,500 Joann Scott Memorial Scholarship from the Delaware Association of Insurance Agents & Brokers (IA&B).
“We were impressed by Jennifer’s and Ben’s academic records, as well as their leadership skills and commitment to community,” said Bryan Willey, chairman of the IA&B board of directors and general manager at Harrington Insurance Agency in Dover. “They embody the ideals of this award.”
Armistead will graduate in June from Caravel Academy and attend the University of Delaware in the fall. Blewitt is a member of the Salesianum School’s class of 2018 and will head to Boston College for the fall 2018 semester.
IA&B members recognized the scholarship winners at their annual convention, held at the Atlantic Sands Hotel & Conference Center in Rehoboth Beach on May 31.
Joann Scott was employed by Kinnamon Taylor and Dawes in Wilmington, Del. She was active in the association and dedicated to furthering the education of independent insurance agents, which is why scholarships are given in her name each year.
